“The piece jumps from monologues, recitations, performance of memes, and dance, all performed with the dizzying energy of a scroll through your friend’s deep-fried, web-addled brain. Performed as part of The 2023 Exponential Festival, Das Sofortvergnügen (THE INSTANT PLEASURE) was a nonlinear dance-theatre spectacle about insatiable desires, [in]convenience, [im]patience, and the need to get things now. Through exploring contradictions inherent in ourselves, the audience will find what exists for themselves beyond a constant craving to buy, spend, want, and desire. Initially developed in 2021 as part of the !?: New Works Festival, Das Sofortvergnügen makes space for the audience to admit suppressed truths, pursue desires that are wrongfully shamed, and break harmful habits.
